PROJECT SUMMARY

In this project, we redesigned the financial module of the management system for the evangelical community Sara Nossa Terra, which has over 1,300 temples and serves approximately 1.3 million followers globally. Our team worked to eliminate bottlenecks and increase operational efficiency in financial processes, as well as develop a new mobile version of the module. The agile Scrum methodology was essential in ensuring alignment and continuous deliveries throughout the project.

CONTEXT

Sara Nossa Terra is an evangelical community with an international presence, promoting spiritual activities, events, and social projects. Although the community’s system already had a financial module, it had numerous bugs and inefficiencies, affecting the user experience for those managing financial tasks and reducing process effectiveness.

PROBLEM

The existing financial system faced severe bottlenecks and bugs that resulted in low operational efficiency, hindering the daily work of those managing financial flows.

GOALS

The main goals of this project were to:

  • Identify critical inefficiency points and propose improvements;

  • Redesign workflows to optimize system usage;

  • Create a consistent UI Kit and redesign all screens;

  • Develop a mobile version of the module, a key client requirement;

  • Test and validate each step with direct client feedback, ensuring alignment with their needs.

RESEARCH AND FINDINGS

  • User Interviews: We conducted interviews with the primary individuals responsible for financial flows to understand their pain points and challenges with the current system.

    Market Solution Benchmarking: To establish usability and efficiency standards, we conducted benchmarking with other financial systems on the market. This allowed us to adapt best practices to the client’s specific needs, accelerating project agility.

DESIGN PROCESS

  • Ideation and UI Kit Creation: After mapping user pain points, we proceeded to ideate solutions and create a UI Kit, ensuring visual uniformity and consistency across the module.

    Workflow Redesign and Prototyping: We recreated workflows and developed prototypes for desktop and mobile versions, including stages such as navigation, form completion, and reviews, all designed to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.

    Usability Testing: Throughout development, we conducted usability tests with system managers to validate the prototypes. This collaborative approach allowed us to make strategic iterations, ensuring the final product met all requirements and functioned end-to-end.

SOLUTION

The new financial module was entirely redesigned to be intuitive, efficient, and tailored to the needs of Sara Nossa Terra users. The mobile version offers greater accessibility and flexibility, while the redesigned interface eliminated previous bottlenecks and streamlined financial management processes.

Some of the key features of the new module include:

  • Expense tracking and revenue logging;

  • Financial report visualization and generation;

  • Payment request and receipt viewing.

Gains:

  • Simplified navigation and optimized data entry flows;

  • Layout adapted for mobile and desktop devices, ensuring a consistent experience;

  • Uniform visual components that improved clarity and reduced errors in daily use.

RESULTS AND IMPACT

  • Improved Operational Efficiency: The new system is expected to yield significant efficiency gains, positively impacting over 1,000 temples in Brazil that utilize the financial module.

  • Mobile Accessibility: The mobile version allows for more practical and flexible access, meeting users’ needs conveniently.

  • Positive User Feedback: Direct feedback from users indicated that the new screens and workflows will significantly reduce time spent on routine tasks and facilitate financial management.

CHALLENGES AND LEARNINGS

  • One of the biggest challenges was identifying critical inefficiency points within a complex system with accumulated issues.

  • Continuous collaboration with users was crucial in overcoming these difficulties.

  • Frequent usability testing and the agile Scrum methodology were essential in keeping workflows aligned and adapted to the client’s specific needs.
